Designed to seamlessly change the compression ratio on demand, the VC-Turbo engine uses a multi-link system to lower the compression ratio as low as 8:1 when more power is needed and raise the compression ratio as high as 14:1 when greater fuel efficiency is desired — or anything in between. This technology removes the compromise inherent in choosing between a more powerful engine with diminished fuel economy and a fuel-efficient engine with lower engine power.
