​INFINITI Motor Company will introduce new vehicles with electrified powertrains from 2021, said Nissan Chief Executive Officer Hiroto Saikawa at the Automotive News World Congress today.

Customers can expect beautifully designed vehicles like the Q Inspiration concept shown in Detroit, with a whole new level of electrified driving performance as an evolution of INFINITI's current powertrains.

The Back-up Collision Intervention System or (BCI), if so equipped, uses radar sensors near the rear bumper to help alert the driver to approaching vehicles or objects while backing up. If enabled, the system operates when the shift lever is in Reverse and the vehicle speed is less than approximately 5 miles-per-hour. When an object is detected, the system applies brief braking pressure while the vehicle is moving backward.

Depending on the location of the detected object, the system notifies the driver with one or more of the following:

• Warning chimes,
• The Blind Spot Warning indicator lights on the inside of the front doors, and
• Indicators on the AroundView Monitor on the touch screen display.

Airing for the first time on Jan. 1, the national spot, titled "Thrones," opens with a series of images of the most luxurious seats from around the world. Taking inspiration from various regions and historical eras, the thrones featured were custom made. The spot then cuts to a scene of friends inside the new INFINITI QX80.
